CreArt Dual Exhibition Open Call / Who can say more / January 17th / Katowice, Poland

The Polish city of Katowice opens a new call to find a local artist and another from the network (artists should be born or resident in Valladolid - ES, Genoa and Lecce - IT; Liverpool - UK; Clermont - Ferrand and Rouen FR; Zagreb – HR (member of HDLU); Kaunas -LT; Lublin and Katowice - PL; Aveiro - PT; Skopje – MK), to participate in the exhibition project "Who can say more?" to be presented on January 17 in the City of Gardens Gallery (Galeria Miasta Ogrodów). The exhibition will be presented until 24 March 2019. The organization covers all the organizational expenses of the show and production of the works. In addition, artists will receive fees for their participation. The complete call and the concept of the exhibition are available in the Open Calls section of the CreArt website.

CreArt Curators Seminar Open Call / What is to curate an exhibition? Presenting the past, narrating the present / October 29th to 31st / Aveiro, Portugal

The seminar will explore the relationship between history of art and curating, as well as the narrative production involved in curating. It will focus on contemporary exhibitions of twentieth century art. It will address the following issues:

Curating in a centre-periphery dynamics: peripheral artistic practices, curating and history production

The role of curating regarding pre-defined artistic canons or hierarchies of artistic practices

Market, politics and social dynamics: curating as practice of interference

Art history's changing practices and curatorial practices

The role of the museum in rethinking the museum and its narratives

Changing ways of seeing, changing ways of thinking - balancing communication, placing doubt, displaying as narrative production

The seminar is open to local curators and artists – born or resident – in any of the cities taking part in “CreArt. Network of Cities for Artistic Creation” project: Aveiro [PT], Clermont Ferrand and Rouen [FR], Genoa and Lecce [IT], Kaunas [LT], Katowice and Lublin [PL], Liverpool [UK], Skopje [MK], Valladolid [ES], Zagreb [HR].

Curators and artists should have a degree in Arts, Curating, Art History or related areas or at least one year work experience in a museum/galley environment.

CreArt Artist in Residence Open Call (AiR) / November 3rd to November 30th / Aveiro, Portugal

Aveiro Municipality invites two artists from the CreArt Network and one from the city/region to work in Aveiro CreArt AiR, at VIC Arts House, between November 3rd and November 30th.

Aveiro will receive 3 visual artists, offering conditions for painting, photography, new media and ceramics.

The AiR is open to local artists – born or resident – in any of the cities taking part in the “CreArt. Network of Cities for Artistic Creation” project: Aveiro [PT]; Valladolid [ES]; Clermont-Ferrand and Rouen [FR]; Genoa and Lecce [IT]; Liverpool [UK]; Lublin and Katowice [PL]; Kaunas [LT]; Skopje [MK] and Zagreb [HR].

Preference will be given to works with a wide variety and diversity. There is no age limitation, yet it is preferable to have a degree in the field of arts [university level]. In case of the applicants without a university degree, proof of equivalent ability must be provided through his or her artistic career.

The organization will cover travel expenses to Aveiro [up to 500€] for the two artists coming from other CreArt Cities. Aveiro also cover up to 250€ for materials and will pay a grant of 500€ for subsistence, production costs and other expenses.

The artists must have an european health card or equivalent.
