The idea of the project Stroller is to discover Lublin in an unusual way, search for alternative stories, interesting and unique tales, and peculiar narratives. Taking on the role of tour guides, inhabitants of Lublin will share with the strollers their story, knowledge and passion, and will show them known and unknown places – sometimes forgotten and underrated – that may soon cease to exist or become imperceptible. We invite you to travel in time and space, and discover Lublin in an extraordinary way.
The project is a part of the programme of the Social Art Lab.
In the footsteps of first Lublin cyclists | Guide: Zofia Jakóbczak | walking tour

First cyclists appeared on Polish soil in the 1860s. Their appearance in Lublin in the late 1980s caused a sensation among the city's inhabitants, and a few years later (1893) a group of passionate cyclists established The Lublin Cyclists’ Society, its aim being to promote and teach cycling. First cyclists, first bikes and cycling on the streets of Lublin at the turn of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century; cycling trips, costumes, shops, workshops, and the only bike factory in Lublin. A tour of the places important for the history of bicycles in Lublin will be given by Zofia Jakóbczak.

Hocus-pocus welcome to the Tatary district!
The walk around the Tatary district will be a kind of sentimental and strongly subjective journey. The starting point for the walk will be letter T - T like Tatary – the place of childhood, growing up, adolescence, memories and numerous experiences of Katarzyna Zabratańska. The second meaning is T like Teresa – the guide’s mother, thanks to / because of whom the family settled down in this particular district. Alongside her mother, Katarzyna Zabratańska will take you on a tour in the Tatary district, telling you about places, experiences, people, and elusive things and phenomena. The walk has a twofold nature, namely – beyond traditional touring and storytelling, it will also include a video material – recordings of conversations, situations, memories. Available to watch on a tablet as well as on the Internet – the short clips will show you who used to live in Tatary, how they used to live there, and how much of it, if anything at all, has remained to this day.

Garden plots are a miniature of your own paradise in the city. A paradise in the sense of contact with nature, having your own piece of land, the opportunity to imagine all that we cannot keep in the house, and an escape into the world of imagination from the world of blocks of flats, shops and streets. The walking tour will take you to visit the picturesque garden plots in Otella Street. Situated on the edge of a gorge between the Węglin and Konstantynów districts, they show garden plots are not a legacy of past times. Incorporated into the embankment, they show a variety of approaches to the typology of a garden cottage, the arrangement of flower beds, the way of spending leisure time. Their location should above all delight you with the beautiful landscape and the imagination of their owners. Garden plots still work!

This is a walk for those who see the charm of imperfect things and they like to get lost in order to find it. It will be a bit melancholic, reflective walk. One that will combine reverie with the desire to explore. What Magdalena Łuczyn is passionate about in Lublin is the multitude of forgotten, abandoned places. Buildings at the back of busy streets that are full of life and the everyday hustle and bustle of the city. Buildings and places nobody visits and cares about any more. These places are a pretext for her to tell stories about the city, its characteristics, inhabitants and social processes. Taking a walk with Magdalena Łuczyn you will discover useful shortcuts and look at Lublin from an unusual perspective.

The biking tour along the trail of selected Lublin mosaic works contributes to the discussion about the post-war modernism and the role of art in public space. It is an invitation to an individual search for mosaics in the city. Both those created in the time of the People's Republic of Poland as well as those made in recent times. During the tour participants will get to know mosaic architectural decorations located mainly on public buildings in the centre of Lublin. They are very diverse works, some exposed, others so strongly inscribed in the structure of a building that make it an inseparable whole. The mosaics represent many topics and were made using various techniques and materials. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the importance of architectural decorations in modernist buildings, will get to know the context of their origins, and will be made aware of the problem of a lack of protection of this part of cultural heritage.

This walk is a recollection of youth, a story about social adolescence and places that are connected with it. About places that played very different roles in the life of one generation. Its route will lead along Krakowskie Przedmiescie, which used to be a pedestrian street and a meeting place at that time, follow to Wolności Square and the “Union” secondary school, and end behind the Krakow Gate next to a milk bar. On the way we will bring back the memories of climbing roses on the campus, a Warsaw commando unit at the Catholic University of Lublin, an ice skating ring and a swimming pool in Grottgera Street, the first Delicatessen, donuts at Madej’s shop, ice cream at Lublinianka, bookshops, the WUML and the OKP, sweets from Wedel, paintings at “Plastyk” and "Desa," the remnants of "Baobab" in Litewski Square, the legendary clubs "Nora" and" Empik." The walk will be a good opportunity to reflect on Polish fate as seen from a perspective of time.

The walking route is marked by the traces of strong and prominent women who did extraordinary things in the face of the difficult time of the interwar period. The narrative consists of war stories - tragic and heroic, but also stories about love. This route is a reminder of entrepreneurial women who are becoming forgotten. All testify to the multicultural history of Lublin.

Advance booking by phone is required at: 81 533 108 18. The tours are free of charge. Under-aged must be attended by a responsible party.
"Piece by Piece" is a cycling tour. Participant must have their own bikes. There is a possibility to rent a bike from the Lublin Municipal Bike Station. Safety of the cycling tour will be ensured by the Lublin Cycling Agreement.
Groups up to 15 people are possible. Other dates and times of the tours are possible at the request of organized groups.
Guided tours in English are possible. The guided tour "T2 - Tatary" is also possible in Russian and Ukrainian.
