The Night of Culture is the city’s cultural manifestation. The third edition of the event takes place on June 6th.
It aims at revealing the charm of the city, as well as presenting the variety of cultural initiatives and artistic programs. Its aim is to open Lublin open the minds of both locals and guests for art and culture, therefore, the offer is broad and varies from ludic and popular to elite and niche events. The program is prepared by professional artists and amateurs. The admission to theatres, galleries, museums, and concert halls is free during the Night of Culture. Also libraries, cultural Centers, cafés, clubs and other institutions are involved in the event. Each public place in Lublin is vibrant with culture and art on that very special night.
This year’s motto is "A Man in the City - the City in a Man." The events take place on the streets that seen from a bird's-eye perspective form a human figure. The head - the Old Town and area near the Castle - means remembering history and the awareness of the unique multicultural heritage. Heart - Litewski Square - refers to the Polish and Lithuanian ideas of the Union of Lublin. Spine - Krakowskie Przedmieście - the main road of the city. Hands - Świętoduska and Bernardyńska streets - point to the North and South and symbolize mental and cultural openness of Lublin. Legs - Radziszewskiego and Aleje Racławickie - refer to the academic and environmental dimensions of Lublin.
