Urban Highline Festival 2017 is the ninth edition of the biggest and oldest event of this kind in the world. This year it will host 305 participants from 36 countries. Every year Lublin and its magical atmosphere attract a wide public and world-famous artists. In the year of the city’s 700th anniversary, Magicians Carnival will be 2 days longer – it will be held from 25 July to 30 July. Besides the shows, the programme includes lectures and workshops.

Urban High Line Festival is an integral element of the Magicians Carnival. The organizers of the 9th Urban Highline Festival have provided at least 15 slackline tapes. They will be located around the Crown Tribunal, between the Trinitarska Tower and the Lublin Cathedral, above Wieniawska Street, and above Królewska Street – between the Town Hall and the Krakowska Gate. In addition, on 28 July, in the evening, there will be a display of trickline above the safety net combined with a trickline contest.

Urban Highline Festival 2017 will host the world’s best slackliners, including:

·   Mia Noblet (Canada) – a world highline record holder, she keeps beats her own records. It will be her first time in Lublin.

·   Jerry Miszewski (USA) – a man of Polish origin who based his entire career on creating safe slackline. He has taken a liking to Magicians Carnival and regularly takes part in it, sharing his knowledge with other participants.

·   Spencer Seabrooke (Canada) – a former world record holder in free solo (i.e. no safety gear) slackline. It will be his third performance in Lublin. Enchanted with the beauty of Lublin, he promotes our city in Canada.

·   Jediah Doohan (Great Britain) – a man who can’t stay in one place. His crazy tricks always excite the public, and every lens loves his smile.

·   Tauri Vahesaar (Estonia) – one of the world leaders in aerial acrobatics, he will be the highlight of the trickline contest. He had to be in Lublin this year after his memorable performance in 2016.

·   Julian Mittermaier (Germany) – one of the best young generation highliners, put in the Guinness Book of Records twice. He does not often take part in official event, therefore we are the more pleased to have him in Lublin this year.

The programme of Urban Highline Festival 2017 also includes lectures and workshops that will be held in a tent town located in the Błonia area in the vicinity of Lublin Castle. The lectures by the invited guests will be held on 27 July between 9 pm and 11 pm. The slackline workshops – open to everyone whatever their skills – will start on 28 July, and will be held on the following days: Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday 3pm-8pm, Sunday 3pm-7pm. The tent hall will have stalls with gear sets for beginners, T-shirts and slackline equipment. This year the organizers have prepared for the participants special materials about the Magicians Carnival, the city of Lublin, the Crown Tribunal, and the Union of Lublin.
