On September 20, the first edition of the Bookshops’ Night 2019 will take place in dozens of bookshops throughout Poland. The event, like the Night of Museums, is to permanently mark its presence in the calendar of national cultural happenings. There will be conversations, meetings, literary walks, openings, performances and of course the written word as the leading part of the Bookshops’ Night. On the last Saturday of Summer, September 21, we invite you to to the Lublin Cider Festival. It will be held in the Old Town Square and in the Square of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures. It will include the "taste Lublin" zone, a tasting cider zone, a laboratory of scents and a breaking up of a 600-liter cider barrel. Kwiat Jabłoni, MaJLo, Bolewski and Tubis will perform during the Festival. Get ready for a refreshing experience and an unforgettable musical evening!

Concerts

Lublin Blues Session is going to take place at the Chatka Żaka Academic Culture Centre. The accoustic duet Buskin’ Jack, Adam Bartoś quartet and Wanda Johnson (USA) with the band will perform as a part of the 9th edition of Lublin Blues Session. A vernissage of the photo exhibition by Daniel Drobik is going to take place before the concerts. It presents performing artists during LUBLIN BLUES SESSION in the years 2014-2018. On 21 September, Corina Marti - a Swiss harpsichord and recorder player, and on 22 September - Vadim Brodski – violinist, will perform at the Lublin Philharmonic as part of the 6th International Wieniawski Brothers Festival edition. We also suggest visiting the Saxon Garden and listening to Aga Ozon's concert from the Cafe Variete series. On 20 September, in Lublin Radio, concert of Lublin Street Band will take place.

Spectacles

As a part of the Festival of History, we invite you to a wonderful historical spectacle at Arena Lublin. The play is named "Gods of War" with 200 actors and over two hours of impressions prepared by the reenactment group. The Old Theatre in Lublin invites you to the play "Come back". After the performance there will be a meeting with artists hosted by Wojciech Majcherek.

Exhibitions

Centre for the Meeting of Cultures invites you to the exhibition "A hole in the whole! Bohdan Butenko. Illustrations". Another exhibition that is worth seeing is the Pekaboo exhibition in the Workshops of Culture. It will last until the end of October. Schulz meeting and vernissage - painting show with the participation of the artist Levek Mykytycz.

Meetings/walks

20th Congress of Polish Historians, a scientific and cultural event is held on September 18-20, 2019 in Lublin. The organisers are the Polish Historical Society, the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and the National Archives in Lublin. The congress is entitled: Great Change. History and challenges. The Book and Historical Press Fair will be held at the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures as a part of the Festival of History. We also invite you to the meeting: What new do we know about the Augustów manhunt? The Szpilka Foundation invites you for a walk following the traces of the Union of Lublin. However, it will be an unusual walk, telling about the Union from the perspective of its participants. You will travel back to Lublin from XVIth century. Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society guide invites you for a walk: What was the "boab tree" rustling about in Litewski Square? The "Via Jagiellonica" Foundation invites you for a walk “Exploratory sightseeing: The secret of the St. Francis church".

Workshops

The Szpilka Foundation offers screen printing workshops. As a part of the workshop you will be able to create original prints inspired by the Renaissance and the Union of Lublin times. You will also have an opportunity to create a necklace or a pendant yourself during the jewelry workshops. Calligrafather invites you to calligraphy workshops for beginners and advanced participants.

Sport

If you like table tennis or just want to spend your time actively, you are welcome to the 1st Table Tennis Tournament. It is time to say goodbye to summer, but not to your bike! The weekend bike trip will be to Nadwieprzański Landscape Park and Łęczna region. If you wish to jog, come to the Zemborzycki Reservoir on Sunday!

For children

The play for the youngest “Szewczyk Dratewka- the fairy tale to be eaten” will be performed at the Andersen Theatre. We also invite you to the puppet show "Constellation of the Little Prince" performed by Teatr Podręczny. It will be held within the walls of Księgarnia Królewska as a part of the Bookshops’ Night. Dual Pumptrack Challenge bicycle races in Bike Park for children more than 3 years of age will make it even more fascinating!

Exhibitions

Digging in the museum” as an opening autumn event will take place in The Open Air Village Museum in Lublin. There will be cooking shows, a bonfire with roasting potatoes and plenty of attractions for children. "Farewell to Summer" event will take place in the Botanical Garden with many attractions for children, a cake fair and a bonfire with baked potatoes. There is also going to be an event for everyone interested in a healthy lifestyle.
