Discover the roots of modern dance music and culture at The Reggae Movement Exhibition.
The exhibition is titled Soundsystem: From Jamaica to Europe 1950 to 1995 and tells the story of the evolution of the DJ music, disco mixes and dub versions.

From Studio One to Bob Marley and Haile Selassie, all the great icons of reggae music are featured in this unusual story of reggae sound systems, the huge speaker systems that evolved as a radio of the people in Jamaica, and then spread to the UK in the 1970s and to Europe in the 1990s.

The text accompanying the exposition was authored by music historian Ronan Lynch, PhD, while the original artwork was created by Jamaican artist Michael Thompson aka Freestylee and the UK underground legend Mau Mau. The story is told both in Polish and English. The Polish translation was provided by Bartosz Wójcik.

The Reggae Movement Exhibition has been on tour of Europe since September 2011. So far it has been presented in Berlin, Dublin, Amsterdam, Bruges, Warsaw and Oslo. The Lublin leg of its tour has been organised jointly by Irie Up Magazine (irieup.com), British Centre, Lublin, the Kaiser Söze Foundation (kaisersoze.pl) and Roots Defender Sound Kolektyw (rootsdefender.pl).
