Lukas Geniušas - ex aequo recipient of the second prize at the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (2010) as well as of the special accolade bestowed upon him by the Fryderyk Chopin Association in recognition of his performance of Chopin's Polonaise during the second stage of the Competition. Geniušas was born on 1 July 1990 in Moscow in a family of established musical traditions. He started learning how to play the piano at the age of 5. His grandmother Vera Gornostayeva, an eminent pedagogue and a professor at Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, is his first teacher and mentor.

Before he turned 12, he managed to make his name participating in a number of international competitions and festivals, including: The 2004 International Fryderyk Chopin Young Pianists Competition in Moscow (second prize), Gina Bachauer Young Pianists Competition in Salt Lake City (second prize), The 2007 International Piano Competition in Scotland (second prize), The 7th Young Pianists Competition, Russia, 2008 (first prize), The Third Piano Competition in San Marino (second prize), Musica della Val Tidone Competition in Pianello, Italy, 2009 (first prize), The 2010 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in Salt Lake City (first prize).

He performed with numerous orchestras, including Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Duisburg Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony, Kremeratą Baltica. He worked with prominent conductors: Gidon Kremer, Andrey Boreyko, Saulius Sondeckis, Dmitrij Sitkovetsky, Antoni Wit, Roman Kofman, Dmitrij Liss, and Juozas Domarkas. The pianist gave performances in France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Poland, Japan, South Korea, USA, Germany, China.

On 1 March 2012 - the date of Fryderyk Chopin's birth - for the first time in the history of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw Geniušas performed all the three sonatas of the Polish composer. The concert was broadcast live by Polish Radio Two.

Lukas Geniušas is a pianist typified by a wide repertoire, ranging from the baroque to contemporary composers. In spite of his young age, he has managed to master a very mature, ambitious and extensive repertoire that comprises 10 solo programmes and 12 piano concertos.
He performs among others 24 etudes by Chopin, Beethoven's "Hammerklavier", Hindemith's "Ludus Tonalis". Geniušas is an avid performer of chamber music, playing in duets, trios, and quintets. He is by default open towards contemporary music created by present-day composers.
