Koncert
Anna Maria Jopek's Lublin concert will feature songs from her critically acclaimed album "Polanna", which is composed as a search for the essence of Polish soul in music. The music on the LP was arranged by multiple Grammy nominee Gil Goldstein and Polish pianist Krzysztof Herdzin. Jopek's project would not have come to fruition if it had not been for the hand-picked group of musicians accompanying the singer:
the Grand Dame of Polish Folk - Maria Pomianowska, classically-trained cellist Rafał Kwiatkowski, clarinettist Wiesław Wysocki as well as Robert Murakowski (fluegelhorn/trumpet), Marek Napiórkowski (guitar), Krzysztof Herdzin (piano), Robert Kubiszyn (double bass), Paweł Dobrowolski (drums) oraz Piotr Nazaruk (flute).
The album was recorded in Radio Gdańsk's studios. It was mastered by Grammy winner Joe Ferla in the New York-based MRS studios, with some contributions by Steve Rodby of Pat Metheny Group fame.
"Polanna" offers a new take on the beautiful and important moments in the history of Polish music - from the times of yore, as represented by old folk songs, to the output of composers Stanisław Moniuszko, Mieczysław Karłowicz, and Karol Szymanowski, and, finally, to the music of Skaldowie, the pioneering Polish folk and progressive rock band founded in the 1960s.
