Angel Town Workshop ("Aniołkowo")
Angel Town 2013/Aniołkowo 2013 – is a series of workshops organised with five- and six-year-olds in mind. During the course of three days, around eight hundred children (24 kindergarten groups, each consisting of about thirty-five children) will participate in the Angel Town activities. Each group will take part in an eighty-minute programme of edutainment (education through entertainment), which includes an informative session on festive rituals practiced by various cultures and an optional workshop of either Angel making or Bethlehem building. The Angels will created out of feathers, paper, wool, glitter, origami, kirigami, etc. The children will be able to either decorate the monastery and the Christams trees around the Nativity Scene with their hand-made angels or to take them home as a Christmas gift and a reminder of the time spent in Angel Town.
The workshops are organised by the Dominican friars and KLANZA - the Polish Association of Pedagoues and Animators.
The Little Town of Bethlehem will be also created in the cloisters of the monastery. Each of the twenty-four groups will create its own street. The town will be built out of white, silver, and navy blue elements. These building blocks will be created out of among others cardboard boxes of various shapes and sizes, pipes, cloth scraps, and paper. Upon completion, the town will be accompanied by a visual spectacle - white lights will be strategically placed on its newly built streets.
