Genowefa Świdnik-Białas was born in 1953. She lives in Parchatka near Kazimierz Dolny. She has been painting since 1999. In 2002 she joined the Painters Club at the Lublin Garrison Club. She is a member of Lublin’s Friends of Fine Arts Society and the Kolor Group at the Culture Creators Workers’ Association in Świdnik. She has participated in open air painting workshops in Złocień, Bonin, Nałęczów and Kazimierz; she has also organized both open air painting workshops in communes of the Świdnik district and exhibitions of works created at such workshops.

Genowefa Świdnik-Białas was the driving force behind the foundation of the John Paul II Memorabilia Collectors Association. She also undertook the initiative to set up the exhibition Poland Gave a Pope to the World (Polska Papieża światu dała) and to hold a mass at Lublin Castle’s Holy Trinity Chapel to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the pontificate of John Paul II. Świdnik-Białas has also arranged several exhibitions, including Vilnius Churches in Photographs (Kościoły Wilna na fotografii), Polonia Sacra, Blessed John Paul II (Błogosławiony Jan Paweł II), TOTUS TUUS, John Paul II in Paintings (Jan Paweł II w malarstwie), Pope’s Family and Human Dignity Day (Papieski Dzień Rodziny i Godności Człowieka).

Świdnik-Białas has been awarded numerous distinctions, diplomas and congratulation letters her community involvement and artistic work, including the Świdnik Mayor Award, Jakub Wojciechowski Medal as well as bronze, silver and gold badges of merit awarded by the Culture Creators Workers’ Association. Her merits have also earned her the Distinguished Cultural Service Award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
