Film screening: "Sugar Man"
Kinoteatr Projekt invites all to the next installment of its BENSHI Film Discussion Club, which continues with the screening of the fourth movie in the four-film “Music” series. This time around we are showing “Sugar Man”.
This music-filled Academy Award-winning documentary was critically acclaimed, favoured by critics in many countries – among others at the Sundance Film Festival, at the Dwa Brzegi Festival.
The trials and tribulations as well as the highs and the lows that mark in the life of American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Sixto Rodriguez provide the content of “Sugar Man”, his filmic (and musical) biography. Rodriguez’ mysterious disappearance and similarly mystifying popularity in South Africa are two pivots of the film’s narrative. “Sugar Man” is a superbly written, directed, and executed story about Sixto Rodriguez, who is regarded by some film and music enthusiasts as a living legend.
