elpomene - spine-tingling urban tales
The second meeting in the Storytellers (SŁOWODAJĘ - IA – MIASTO) series focuses on the fictional, mainly on recording and re-telling of old and new stories “from my home town”. As our sources of inspiration, we will be drawing on classic spine-tingling narratives by Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Conrad, William Austin, Washington Irving, and Arthur Conan Doyle as well as perhaps on the personal experience and memory of Dariusz Jeż, the workshop’s host and a man of many talents, including an unusual sense of humour and a mastery of telling thrilling stories.
Hosted by: Dariusz Jeż – actor, animator of culture. Born and raised in a dysfunctional family, in a slightly shady milieu. Relied on physical force for much of his life to make a name for himself. To do so, he among others robbed banks, extorted money, and did time for racketeering. His life was given a U-turn thanks to theatre. Actor of the Lublin-based InVitro theatre. The story of his life served as the basis for Łukasz Witt-Michałowski’s play “Zły”. So far Jeż has collaborated with the following theatre directors: Joanna Lewicka, Paweł Passini, and Łukasz Witt – Michałowski.
The meetings are dedicated to junior high school and high school pupils. Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Due to a limited amount of seating available, early booking is advised. To book a place, call us direct at 81 533 08 18, Monday to Friday, 10 am - 4 pm.
