„Totart”, directed by Bartosz Paduch, running time: 76’, 2014.
Totart defies easy categorization; however, it is obvious that overall Totart constituted a crucial art phenomenon of the Polish counter-culture of the 1980s. This oddly unique and uniquely odd multidisciplinary arts collective comprised of some of the creative and idiosyncratic personalities of the Tricity (Trójmiasto) area. Apart from the leadership of Zbyszek Sajnóg, Totart became renowned (some would say notorious) for the activities of Paweł Konjo Konnak, Ryszard Tymon Tymański, Paweł Paulus Mazur and Darek Brzóska Brzóskiewicz.
Since its inception, Totart garnered critical acclaim and generated a lot of hostility if only because of an intoxicating medley of wild performances, hard-hitting manifestos, spontaneous actions. All Totart endeavours were characterised by the aura of ideological and aesthetic transgression and comedy-in-seriousness that encompassed literature, music, filmmaking and visual arts.
The Lublin premiere screening of the documentary will be attended by former Totart members.
The screening will be followed by a Q and A session.
