The 23rd edition of Theatre Confrontations is another “turning point” for the Festival. We begin to build programme for the next years – experts in Polish theatre, Wojciech Majcherek and Łukasz Drewniak, are responsible for the selection. The new curators chose a quote from Stanisław Wyspiański’s Study on Hamlet – What is there to think? – as a motto of this edition. They created a very diverse theatre programme revolving around Polish way of thinking, which is a kind of reflection on the troubled times. This is the “old spirit” of the new festival. We always wanted to share such thoughts with our audience. We invited recognized creators including Maja Kleczewska, Ivan Vyrypaev, Anna Smolar, Theatre of the Eighth Day and the Czech director, Jan Mikulášek. For the first time students of directing from Cracow and the Warsaw theatre academies will present their works.
