The musical “Anne of Green Gables” based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel, with the music composed by Zbigniew Karnecki, has been popular in musical theatres across Poland for many years. No wonder. It has numerous advantages such as terrific music and lyrics which are moving and witty at the same time. Apart from being hilarious and full of comic dialogues and scenes, this musical also offers reflections upon the meaning of life, friendship and love, kindness and tolerance. In her novel, Montgomery tells us that we should challenge stereotypes; that all mistakes can be rectified and the new day is to start everything from scratch.
“Anne of Green Gables” is a show not only for children (although it is also played in the morning), but for entire families. Adults will surely be delighted with it, too. The production was directed by Mirosław Siedler, currently head of the Aleksander Sewruk Theatre in Elbląg and former director of a number of Polish theatres.
The production features a guest appearance from the artists associated with the Sztukmistrze Foundation.
