Released in collaboration with Warsaw Uprising Museum, the album titled Jestem przestrzeń features moving poems from Polish poet Anna Świrszczyńska performed by jazz vocalist Monika Borzym. The record contains 12 compositions by young pianist Mariusz Obijalski. The poems form a story about the space of freedom in man and self-determination. This project opens up in listeners new strata of sensitivity they do not use on a daily basis, naming unnamed thoughts and letting listeners experience important events from Poland’s contemporary history with respect and emotions.
The album features special guest performance from John Scofield, one of the most outstanding jazz guitarists, VooVoo leader Wojciech Waglewski, who performs a moving duet with Monika Borzym, and guitar wizard Mitchell Long, American musician specializing in jazz, blues and world music.
The album was released on July 28 as part of the annual event We Remember '44. On the same day Monika gave a concert that was broadcast live by TVN 24, and then, on August 1, re-broadcast on Polish Radio Channel 3.
