The House of Words hosts another exhibition of a series of award-winning works from the sixty-fourth annual Type Directors Club Communication Design Competition (TDC64) and the twenty-first annual TDC Typeface Design Competition (TDC21). The Type Directors Club is a professional non-profit organization whose mission is to educate the international community of designers of text-based visual communication designers.
This world-travelling exhibition shows both the winning typeface designs and examples of graphic designs including books, magazines, brand identification, logos, advertisements, posters, packaging and video typography. The winning typographic designs in TDC64 were selected from over 2000 entries from 55 countries by an international jury chaired by Catherine Casalino and Christopher Sergio, the judges being Bryony Gomez-Palacio, Gemma O’Brien, Jon(athan) Key, Mike Essl, Natasha Jen, Nicholas Blechman, Susan Sellers.
The 18 winning typeface designs in TDC21 were selected from over 225 entries by a jury chaired by Elizabeth Carey Smith and consisting of Sahar Afshar, Verena Gerlach, YuJune Park and Dyana Weissman.
The winning entries were exhibited in eight traveling shows. Besides touring the United States and Canada, the exhibitions visited China, England, Spain, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, and appeared at ATypI, TypeCon and Adobe MAX.
