WRO on Tour is a travelling set consisting of video works and documentation selected from a rich program of shows, exhibitions and performances, activities and events that took place during the WRO Biennale. WRO on Tour screenings and discussions are organized in cultural institutions and festivals in Poland and abroad, up to a next edition of the WRO Biennale. In 2017, the WRO International Media Art Biennale was held for the seventeenth time under the slogan DRAFT SYSTEMS. The title referred to the volatility of the world ordering systems, drew attention to their complexity and instability, emphasized their unstable nature beyond control, and the constant reorganization of reality.
The motto of the show in Galeria Labyrinth is distance. The literal understanding sends back to geography and space: routine traversing of routes, tracks repeated at regular intervals, closer and farther journeys – both physical and imaginary. With aid of technology, we can control and manage the distance, artificially shorten or move away places or phenomena. In other perspectives, the distance refers to the sphere of social relations: emotional close-ups, and sometimes tensions, conflicts and obstacles. The distance is arbitrary and takes on the meaning depending on the chosen points and perspectives.
