#Let's get to know each other! – Young Activists Summit in Lublin
23.01.202314:13

The Young Activists Summit was held in Lublin on January 20-22. 200 young people gathered in the European Youth Capital 2023 to strike up new contacts with socially active people and expand ideas and plans for further measures.

Lublin as the European Youth Capital is a space for meeting, dialogue and inspiration. The Congress is the first event this year aimed at integrating socially engaged young people from all over Poland. Three days, filled with workshops and open debates, will be undoubtedly a chance to youth exchange experiences from different cities and organisations and to jointly develop good practices. We do hope that each Congress participant will leave the city enriched with new plans and ideas whereas conclusions and recommendations from the workshops shall be useful in creating youth policy and city initiatives - says Mariusz Banach, Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Education.

The agenda of the event included, among others: a panel "Youth in Europe - European Youth Year" to discuss the opportunities that EU provides young people with or a debate on "What young people need from young people". During the event, a series of workshops were held where participants defined the needs of young people in four areas: Volunteering, Power-Sharing, Mental Health and the City.

Under the NGO expert supervision, they indicated and specified the goals and ways on how to engage young people in projects in the above-mentioned sectors. The three-day Congress ended with the outcome presentation developed by individual subject-oriented groups.

The Young Activists Summit is the first stage of the "Youth for the Young" project, implemented due to financial support from the European Union to be part of the European Youth Capital 2023 celebrations. The event was organised by the Youth City Council in cooperation with the City of Lublin.
