The U-23 Basketball 3x3 World Championships for women and men are the main sports event and an exceptional event within European Youth Capital agenda. Shortly, Lublin will become the basketball capital of Poland. All four sports events will be held at the Castle Square.
The first event LOTTO 3x3 Women's League is scheduled for September, 22. This is a competition for teams participating in the Orlen Basket Women's League. Moreover during the match, Polish U21 National Team will make a guest appearance. The female group will play at 10.00 a.m.-8.00 p.m. On Saturday (September 23), the participants of the International Challenger tournament will compete against each other. It is the second most important tournament in the world. 16 male teams from all over the world will play in it, including LOTTO 3x3 Warsaw and LOTTO 3x3 Lublin namely teams with Polish representatives. Group competition will take place on Saturday (September 23), while the most important play-off matches will be played on Sunday (September 24). The participants of LOTTO 3x3 League, male tournament of league teams, will play on September, 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and September, 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 12.00-20.00 p.m.
The main event, the 3x3 U23 World Championships, will be the most stirring! From September, 27 to October, 1 the best youth teams from around the world will play in the women's and men's categories. It will be a considerable dose of 3x3 basketball, as 20 teams will play in both categories. During the competition, you will be able to support our national team, because both women's and men's team will take part in the tournament. Male team will play on September 27, 28 and 29 at 6:10 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., while the female team will play on September, 30 at 6:10 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. The final matches will be played on October, 1 at 7:10 p.m. The event will wind up with a pyro show at 8 p.m.
At that time, Lublin Castle Square will become an extensive basketball court!
Accordingly, sports infrastructure is being built at Castle Square. There will be a roof structure imported from Germany. It will have 36-meter-diameter meaning the entire pitch and most of the seated stands will be covered. The pitch area will be surrounded by 1000 seated stands. Moreover, there will be 56 lamps placed on the roof, some to illuminate the pitch, and the rest will provide lighting effects.
